Chelyabinsk Meteor

Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia

A superbolide that entered Earth's atmosphere over Russia, with a diameter of about 20 meters. The airburst occurred at an altitude of 29.7 km, releasing energy equivalent to 400-500 kilotons of TNT. The event was captured by numerous dashcams, making it one of the most documented meteor events.

Sikhote-Alin Meteorite

February 12, 1947

Sikhote-Alin Mountains, Russia

One of the largest meteorite showers in recorded history, when an iron meteoroid approximately 900,000 kg entered the atmosphere and broke apart at an altitude of 5.6 km. The event created more than 100 craters, with the largest being 26 meters in diameter.
